Partington Viaduct

Crossing the Manchester Ship Canal between Partington and Cadishead, this lattice girder viaduct formed part of the Cheshire Lines Committee's route from Stockport to Warrington. The line's closure in August 1982 was due in no small part to the structure's poor condition.

More recently, gangs of youths would gather on its deck to fight and attack passing vessels, so the structure is now blocked by shipping containers which hang over the parapets above the central piers of the masonry side-spans.
