Woodhead demonstration

On Saturday 12th January 2008, a group of transport and environmental campaigners gathered at the western portal of Woodhead tunnel to demonstrate against the National Grid's use of the 1954 double track bore as a cable run. They listened to contributions from, amongst others, the North West's MEP, a railway engineer and a number of green activists.

The gathering attracted TV, radio and press journalists, featuring on BBC Look North and Radio 4's 'You and Yours'. This gallery brings together a few images from the day.
